Waiting For Their Little Girl

SONY DSCSONY DSCBlaine and Courtney contacted me when I posted I was looking to do a Baby’s First Year session. A from belly to baby story, so we started with this beautiful maternity shoot.

Blaine had asked me if he could include his boxer Lady in the shoot. I, of course, instantly said yes! She is such a beautiful dog! And of course I loved her…she reminded me of Abby ūüôāSONY DSCSONY DSC

However, Courtney surpassed Lady in her beauty. She was such a calm and beautiful momma.

This couple was super relaxed and wonderful to work with. We had some fun traipsing through the snow. It was deeper then expected. SONY DSC

The afternoon started to get chilly, and Courtney was the only one of the three of us who wore boots. And after a few falls through the snow (by yours truly) we decided to stick to the path.SONY DSC

SONY DSCI edited these photos slightly different. I usually have very vibrant colors and a nice brightness. Because the idea of this maternity shoot had the softer side, I used a softer editing style.

These two are very excited about their little girl to enter the world in March. I can’t wait to meet her, myself. But for now we wait.

Here in Alberta our winters are generally cold. This year has been unpredictable to say the least.  The day I started writing this post (Wednesday), for example, was -25 (-35 with the wind chill) and the next day was expected to be -7 and the next day it was +3.  This year there is no way to know what to expect.

A few weeks ago there was a stretch of what looked to be nice winter weather with a bunch of snow. I had the idea of doing a skating session for a while, and the timing seemed perfect. I put out the call and Angie was instantly interested.

We arranged to meet later on in the week. The weather held out, but was a bit too good. We had weather of +10 in January! All of the rinks around town closed down. I was so worried.

The day we were to meet we were able to find a rink that was¬†usable, however on my way over it started to rain! Now in most cases this could seem horrible but I realized I was going to get my first “In The Rain” session and in the middle of January at that! (For more info on my Company name click here)¬† No way was I missing this! It made me even more excited!

When I made it to the oval Angie, her two kids and mom were there and ready to go.

Rylee was ready to go as soon as I got there. He wanted to show off his skating skills for the camera. He was fantastic, and boy could he pull some faces! But he had fun. He even fell on purpose just to get those pictures taken!

.Skating Fun (37)

Once Angie had her skates on, Rylee wanted to take her out skating with him. He was so excited to be out skating with his mom. And he made sure to show off his skills.

As Rylee went of for a skate around the oval, Paige wanted a few pictures with her mom. This little one has some of the most captivating eyes I have ever seen!

Once the skating was all done we sat down and enjoyed some hot chocolate, even though it wasn’t cold enough to actually need it!

This was such a happy fun family, it was an honor to have the opportunity to work with them!

And if all works out, I hope I have a cake smash to do in the next few months!
